ABOUT
THE PORTENT ALLIANCE The Portent Alliance is light RP, light
Raiding guild with a strong, family environment. Participation in
Roleplay and Raiding are optional, and members are not penalized
for being unable to take part. Membership is open to any race and
any class of any season at this moment. We are based in Qeynos,
so while we do openly except Freeport characters and alts, please
understand that Freeport characters can not benefit from the rewards
of high level guilds as the reward system currently works.
TO
JOIN THE PORTENT ALLIANCE If you have an interest in joining
the Portent Alliance, there are several ways to contact us for membership:
In game, seek out an officer (see the Contacts
page) and speak of your interest to him or her directly. Alternately,
you could register on our message board and send a private message
to Ktok expressing your interest to join and seeking any further
information you may desire.
If you decide you wish to join our family, you must also register
and post to Omen Hall,
our forum, in the "Seekers, your journey starts here!"
room. Roleplaying in your post is encouraged but not required. Remember,
your post is likely your chance to make a first impression on many
of our members. Have fun with it!
Registering is required so we know your date of joining the guild.
It is also impossible to grant you access to the family only areas
of the message board until you register a user name. Please make
this name the same as the one you use in game. If you choose something
different, we probably will not know who you are.
Join the Portent Alliance chat channel (an invitation and password
will be sent to you by an officer) to get to know the present members
better.
Someone will post to the message board sponsoring you for membership.
At this point, members will hold a vote. To be tagged, you must
have been sponsored for at least seven days and accumulated ten
positive votes and no well founded negatives. When these conditions
are satisfied, you will be tagged as a member of PA with full rights
of membership.
ONCE
YOU HAVE JOINED THE PORTENT ALLIANCE Here is a checklist
you should complete for a better guild experience:
- Be sure to make sure that your guild chat channel us
set up in such a way as to be clearly seen. This may include moving
it to its own chat window, or changing its color to make it stand
out better.
- Continue to join the PA chat channel. We have several good friends
who are not in the guild and this is the best way to keep in touch
with them. It is also important so you can meet and get to know
future members as they enter into the admissions process you completed.
- Register and participate in Omen Hall. This is a required step,
as much of our new and family information is posted in members-only
forums. I can not stress this enough. You need to take the time
at least once a week to read the message board. If you do not, you
can expect to miss out on scheduled events and your voice will not
be heard when important things are voted on. Its for your own good
that you stay up on current events within the family, and Omen Hall
is how to do that.
OTHER
INFORMATION YOU SHOULD KNOW Upon joining, you will have
a 30-day period before promotion to full member (Mystic) to give
both yourself and the guild time to see if the Portent Alliance
is what you are looking for. Promotion will happen automatically
once the Seeker has been a member for 30 days, and the council approves
their promotion to Mystic. If the council DISAPPROVES a promotion
(because the Seeker has violated the charter, or blatantly deviated
to the point where we can tell this is not the guild for them),
they will either remain a Seeker until such time as they have proven
themselves to be a good fit, or in extreme cases, be asked to leave.
Don't fret - this would only happen under severe charter violations.
The vast majority of Seeker-Mystic promotions should go smoothly
and without second thought. If you do not get a promotion at the
appointed time, and have not gotten a private message in Omen Hall
stating why, then please contact an officer and enquire. We try
to keep everything up to date as possible, but running a guild is
a very time consuming effort and sometimes, though rarely, we may
simply forget what day it is. Further information about the guild
ranks can be found in the Guild Charter.
Be familiar with the guild rules and guidelines, as outlined in
the Charter. Failure to comply with the
guild rules may result in corrective counseling, or deguildment
in extreme cases. We do not tolerate asshattery.
The officers are here to help you. If you have a problem with another
member, another guild, or simply need to talk about something personal
or otherwise, let us know. If we are not online when you need us,
send us a private message. I, Ktok, tend to check the message board
at least four or five times a day. If you send me a PM, chances
are very good I will see it and reply in less than twelve hours.
Alt characters are allowed, and even welcomed (though not required)
into the Portent Alliance upon their leaving the Island of Refuge.
All alts are approved for immediate tagging upon the acceptance
of the character you applied to the guild with. Whether they are
tagged or not is up to you. Simply let an officer know, and we will
try and have them tagged when you want.
Rerolling is fine, and your new character will be tagged as soon
as he/she is off the Island. Please do let an officer (or any other
members if no officers are online) know that you are rerolling and
what your new name is so we can find you for tagging.
Nothing lasts forever. Someday, we must all move on. If that time
comes for you, and you must leave the guild (or the game), we simply
ask that you let us know. Please do not simply vanish. It may be
easier than saying goodbye for you, but it is not easy on us. A
departure in the dead of night is considered very rude. Please do
not do it. If you are leaving because you feel conflict with another
member, or a member has treated you badly, please report it. We
take complaints very seriously, and work to address them. It is
better to kick out a troublemaker than to lose a good person who
the troublemaker is driving out.
